Angkor Day Two

Our day started a half hour later (5:30 am) since we already had our tickets. Sunrise was at Sras Srang.
This was royal pool with a private island for the king. Afterwards we eat our breakfast along the pool.
Rice with pork

East Mebon was similar in architecture to Pre Rup.
Prasat Neak Pean required a walk across a river on a slight dam. This was a healing temple/shrine. Next we visited Banteay Srei which is similar in architecture to Angkor Wat but basically on a single level.

Banteay Srei is the temple of women. The quality of the reliefs here are amazing. The works are in really good shape as well. This is also in my top 3.

We stop for lunch. This place is much better than yesterday. The seafood fresh rolls had squid which was a nice twist.
This chicken dish was good except the peas were hard.
After lunch we hit Preah Khan.
By this time the humidity is much higher than yesterday. Good thing we did all that climbing then. I don't think I would have made it. It's a chore to put one foot in front of the other but we push on. It's an amazing complex.

We still have time before we need to head to our sunset location so we head back to Angkor Wat as its close to our final destination. After evaluating the hazy skies and our worn bodies we decide to call off the sunset as we likely won't see it.

After resting and freshening up, I find a fancy hotel on the river with a roof top bar. My thought is if there is a decent sunset then we can catch it. After a $2 tuk tuk, we find ourselves with cocktails in hand.
Well it turns out the canopy over the river blocks the sunset as well as the buildings across the river. However as expected the sun barely shows through the haze so we really aren't missing much. We also had Khmer beef rolls.

We head to Pub Street for dinner and cheap beer. We can't decide so we wander over to the Night Market. Hey let's look around for Hungry Bear. Still no luck so we end up at the Brickhouse. Turns out it's owned by the same people as Island bar so nothing really new. Grilled eggplant and sweet potato.
Beef and chicken skewer.

Food total for the day is $47!  That $16 happy hour really set us back.
Steps for the are 25k and 8.8 miles. I'm surprised it's more than yesterday.
